The Mystery Bulbs Bloom!

The mystery bulbs bloomedThe garden on April 6, 1997

The mystery bulbs bloomed! They are beautiful red amaryllis. The cucumbers have several blossoms already, the tomatoes are growing, and the caladium bulbs are finally starting to come up. The tree ferns put up a new frond about once a week, and the bananas are putting out leaves almost as fast. We have been fortunate to receive above average rainfall in March and April, but not enough to end the drought here in south Texas.

As the vegetables grow, other parts of the yard become the focus of our attention. We have a long way to go to achieve our desired tropical look.
