The Palm Society of South Texas, a chapter of the International Palm Society, consists of people who are interested in raising palm trees, and in encouraging others to use palms in their landscaping. Throughout the year, we meet monthly at the homes of members, or at sites selected for their good displays of palms, such as the Sabal Sanctuary near Brownsville, or Moody Gardens in Galveston, or the San Antonio Botanical Gardens. Our membership ranges from the Rio Grande Valley to Houston and as far north as Austin. We even have members from other states as well as internationally. Our Saturday meetings are informal, and we generally share information on palm cultivation and develop long lasting friendships among people who share this common interest.

Our meetings usually consist of gathering for a pot-luck lunch around noon, touring the home owners' garden and conducting a short informal society meeting. We often have auctions at our meetings where members have the opportunity to garner rare plants at extraordinary prices. We also have an annual Christmas party where we conduct a palm related gift exchange via a raffle means. All in all I know you'll find our meetings enjoyable and entertaining and you will meet some fantastic plant-people.
