This month we made our way to BayView to visit the home and garden of Jim and Evelyn Sommerfrucht. Their meeting was co-hosted by Jack and Linn Keller. It turned out to be a beautiful sunny day with warm spring like temperatures. The weather complimented the beautiful garden and made it all the easier to take in its glory. Per the norm, folks gathered and socialized prior to sitting down to a gracious meal provided by the Sommerfruchts and Kellers, plus all the side dishes and desserts brought by members. All had plenty to eat as most sat outside under covered patios taking in the days' beauty.

After we all ate to our fill, we had a short society meeting. We covered the normal business of dues, meetings and scheduled events and we also heard from Morris Clint who is involved with the Brownsville Botanical Garden project. Morris updated the members on the status of the project and some of the issues they are facing. After the meeting, we all went on a tour around Jim's tropical fruit orchard. Jim was once again gracious and allowed members to pick as much fruit as they wanted from the orchard.

After the... After the orchard tour, the meeting came to an end. Many folks stayed around to enjoy the grounds and weather, while others opted to take advantage of an offer to visit Rivers End Nursery by the owners, Ed and Kathy. Once again we thank the Sommerfruchts and Kellers for hosting this meeting. We all had fun and look forward to seeing you at the next meeting.
