This month we met up at John and Mary Barkkari's home and garden. Over the past few years they have worked diligently on maturing their garden.
For those of us that visited the last time they hosted a meeting, we could really see the differences in the garden. The royal palms along the side
yard have tripled in size and are maturing nicely. They have also added many new palms to the garden to include additional royals, bottle, phoenix and
triangle specimens.
The Barkkari's put on a feast of chicken and salmon as the main entree. As usual, a great variety of side dishes were brought in by the members visiting
and we all had plenty to choose from and fill up on, then there was the desserts....
After we ate, we held a society meeting and discussed the survey we were taking regarding the Brownsville Botanical Garden project. We discussed the options
that would be seen on the survey and asked that the members respond by the first of July. At the next meeting we will discuss the results of the survey and
where this leaves us as a society regarding supporting the project.
After the meeting was complete we held a plant auction with all of the donated plants from our gracious members. Once again we had a good time auctioning off
the plants and trying to out bid one another. As usual, the society fared well through the donation of the plants and the subsequent bids. We thank all that
donated and participated.
Here are a few more pictures from today's meeting.
And even more pics...
Well we hope you've enjoyed a view into this months meeting. We look forward to seeing you at one of our future meetings.
